Our Commitment to the Graduate Student Community

The Graduate Student Council is committed to advocate for the needs and support of the graduate student population. GSC plays a major role in representing graduate students on committees, university leadership meetings, and the Board of Trustees. We take pride in raising student voices in critical spaces that directly impact graduate students experience to and through Seattle University.

General Duties of all GSC Members:

Attend General Assembly meetings as scheduled
Serve on 1 GSC Committee by attending meetings and assisting with project support as needed.
Respond to emails in a timely manner.
Assist with projects, events, campus partnerships and initiatives, as they align with your goals and position within GSC.
Uphold the values and mission of GSC and Seattle University as a whole.

General Duties of all School Representatives and Community Representatives are as follows:

Advocate the student perspective on issues that affect the quality of student life, including but not limited to the quality of education, academics, student life, and campus issues.
Serve as a voting member of the GSC General Assembly.
Willing to lead committees, serve as a mentor, and plan events.
Represent the best interests of their respective community and the student body.
Write and present legislation and resolutions for the betterment of the general graduate student population.

Meet the Executive GSC Board

GSC Executive President

Kaleo (She/Her)

I am currently getting my Masters in Student Development Administration, and received my B.A. in Interdisciplinary Students and in Dance and Movement Studies from Emory University. When I have the time, I love to crochet, hike, and explore Seattle! My favorite hikes are ones with a body of water somewhere on the trail, which luckily, is pretty easy to find here in the PNW!

As someone who is planning to work as a staff member in higher education for my career, I recognize the power of the student voice in shaping institutional policies and resources. I joined GSC to advocate for the interests of the graduate student body, push for greater recognition of our specific needs and challenges and improve student awareness of the resources available to us!

This year we launched our monthly GSC newsletters that highlights resources on campus, upcoming event, and updates for us to improve communications with the entire graduate community!

I am currently working on eating at every place on the Infatuations Top 20 Breakfast Spots in Seattle!

Zahra (She/Her)

I'm from Shiraz, Iran, and I am currently working toward a Masters In Data Science. I hold a Bachelors degree in Statistics, which laid the foundation for my passion for analyzing and interpreting stat to solve complex problems.

I enjoy playing backgammon, going for a run on sunny days, and savoring the aroma of morning coffee-it's my favorite way to start the day.

My motivation for joining the GSC was inspired by a close friend who encouraged me to take on a leadership role. Their support made me realize my passion for creating meaningful change and being a voice for others. I aim to build a strong sense of community among graduate students while amplifying the voices of international students. I am particularly excited about initiatives that promote diversity, foster inclusivity, and create opportunities for connection and collaboration.

Originally from Bangalore, India, I have spent my entire life residing in Dubai.

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Accounting and Analytics, with a passion for accounting.

My motivation for joining GSC was to actively contribute to enhancing the graduate student community.

I love exploring cafes and find inner peace in the tranquil ambiance of art galleries.

Hello There!

I am originally from Eastern Washington and received my B.S. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Research from Washington State University (Go Cougs!).

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Student Development Administration and work full time as a Graduate Admissions Counselor.

As a higher education practitioner, my passion is in uplifting student voices and concerns to improve the experience and remove barriers to higher education for students. I joined GSC to advocate for those students of marginalized communities, increase student resources, and provide opportunities for person and professional growth.

In my free time, I love to cook, attend concerts, and explore the greater Seattle Area! I am a huge foodie and will explore all different kinds of foods, if you see me out and about, please say hi!

Hello everyone! My name is Dnyandeep, and I’m excited to serve on the Graduate Student Council this year! I’m from Nagpur, India, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Computer Science at Seattle University. 

I’m a big soccer fan and love playing whenever I get the chance. I enjoy spending time with friends, going on scenic hikes, and discovering Seattle’s unique neighborhoods and hidden gems. Whether it’s exploring local restaurants, catching a great view from a trail, or simply enjoying a good cup of coffee, I’m always up for an adventure.

Hi everyone! My name is Teresa Pham and I am originally from Portland OR but moved to Seattle in 2021 for college.

I completed my B.A. in Clinical Counseling Psychology at SPU and now am pursing my Masters in Couples and Family Therapy here at SU.

I am a huge foodie and cafe hopper, you'll probably catch me at Coffeeholic or any boba shop. I also love to dance, sing, and cook during my free time.

Although I am new to this campus and GSC, I am so excited to represent the College of Arts and Science and advocate for you all.

My name is Grace and I am thrilled to be the School of Law Representative for the 2024-2025 year.

I am originally from Johnson City, TN where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Women & Gender Studies at East Tennessee State University.

I am now a second-year law student at SU Law with and interest in Environmental Law. In my free time I enjoy hiking, traveling, and crafting.

Hi! I'm Julia!

I was born in Brazil but have been calling the PNW my home for 10 years now.

I got my Bachelors in Psychology at UW and working at a hospital as a clinical researcher, I realized I really wanted to pursue nursing. In my free time, I like to read suspense/thriller novels and take long walks with my dog. He's a super smart husky-doodle and I'm trying to teach him some fun party tricks.

I joined GSC to be a voice for nursing students navigating a program that is already challenging, but even more so in the graduate/adult life setting.

Student Parent Representative

Harsha (She/Her)

I'm from Chandigarh, a vibrant city in northern India. I am currently pursing a Masters in Business Analytics.

I am passionate about traveling to new places, meeting people from diverse culture, and exploring scenic driving routes. I also enjoy experiencing different cars and the unique feel each one offers.

As the Student Parent Representative, I am motived by my own experiences. I aim to advocate for the student parents by exploring available resources and initiating programs that can better support them. My favorite thing to do in Seattle is discovering hidden gems on long drives, especially routes that highlight the regions natural beauty.
