Biography

CPT Kevin Oppelt is a native of Dallas, Texas. After graduating High School in May 2009, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served nine years as a 25B before being selected for Officer Candidate School. In August 2018, he graduated OCS and commissioned into the Signal Corps.

CPT Oppelt is currently serving as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Seattle University. His previous key development assignments include: Company Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 30th Signal Battalion, 516th Theater Signal Brigade; Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, 207th Signal Company, Special Troops Battalion; Battalion S6, 553 DSSB, 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

CPT Oppelt’s deployment includes CJ6 NCOIC, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A), United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A), Operation Enduring Freedom, Camp Resolute Support, Kabul, Afghanistan. During his most recent deployment he served as the CJ6 NCOIC for CSTC-A and supply NCOIC.

CPT Oppelt’s military education includes Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Officer Candidate School, Signal Basic Officer Leaders Course, Hazardous Material, Unit Movement Officer Course, and Signal Captains Career Course. His civilian education includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Technology Management from American Military University. He is also Network and Security Plus certified and a graduate from the Cisco Certified Network Associate course.

CPT Oppelt’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1st Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Driver and Mechanic Badge, and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Gold).

He is married to the former Michelle Sapinoso of San Diego, CA and reside in Edmonds, WA with their daughter (Emerson) and husky (Maya).
