Biography

Dr. Donna Teevan is a systematic theologian specializing in Catholic theology who teaches courses in the University Core Curriculum and in the Theology and Religious Studies B.A. program. She received her BA and MA degrees from the University of Notre Dame and her PhD from the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto School of Theology. In recent years she has taught “Challenges to Christian Faith,” “Perspectives on Jesus,” and “Methods in Theology and Religious Studies.” In the past, she has taught courses such as “Women and Theology,” “Catholics in the U.S.,” “Medieval and Reformation Theology,” “Modern and Contemporary Theology,” and “Science and Theology.”

Her research interests are in the area of theological method, particularly in the work of Jesuit theologian and philosopher Bernard Lonergan, and more recently she has turned to related areas such as the relationship between the two disciplines of theology and religious studies in the context of Catholic universities and what the challenges and invitations of “a secular age” might be for Jesuit higher education. She is a member of the Catholic Theological Society of America, the College Theology Society, and the American Academy of Religion.
