The waiver for Fall 21 term is now open for students who are registered for classes.
Once registered for classes it can take up to 2 weeks to be loaded into the JCB portal.
Health insurance is required for ALL students taking undergraduate couses as well as most international graduate or law students. A student may waive the student health plan if they have health insurance with comparable coverage. Students who are taking classes 100% virtual are still required to complete the waiver if they do not want the student health insurance plan. This is a OPT-OUT program. If waiver approval has not been received by the deadline of 9/30/21, the student will be automatically enrolled in the Aetna Student Health plan and be responsible for the insurance premium.
Students must actively waive the health insurance every academic year. Waivers from previous years do not roll over.

If you miss the waiver deadline you may submit a waiver when it opens for the next term, however you will be responsible for the current terms premium.
For the 21-22 academic year, ALL undergraduate students including those who are taking a part-time course load (< 12 credits) or have been granted the full-time equivalency (FTE) accommodation WILL BE enrolled in the Aetna Student health plan by default.
Beginning in fall of 2021, students required to have health insruance are all students taking ANY undergraduate course(s). This includes part-time, full-time, full time-equivalency, non-matriculated, post-baccaulaureate students, domestic, and international students. Most international students taking graduate or law course(s) are also required to have health insurance.
Yes, if you are taking undergraduate course(s) you are required to have insurance. If you do not want the Aetna Student Health plan and have an insurance plan with equivalent plan you may submit a waiver by the deadline and if approved, the premium charge will be removed from you student account.
Nothing is needed. Human Resources provides a list of employees taking classes who are automatically waived from the plan since they have access to medical insurance through Seattle University.
YOU MUST SUBMIT A WAIVER OR THEY WILL BE ENROLLED IN THE AETNA STUDENT HEALTH PLAN. Even if your spouse or child is insured through your Seattle University medical insurance and taking advantage of tuition remission, a waiver must be submitted each academic year. They WILL NOT be automatically waived from the Aetna Student Health plan.
