Desi Roots & Routes Podcast Spotlights Seattle U Voices During AAPI Heritage Month

Just in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Desi Roots & Routes—the podcast from Seattle University’s Roundglass India Center—returns with a powerful new slate of episodes. Hosted by Law Professor and Executive Director Sital Kalantry, the series continues to explore the personal and professional journeys of Seattle’s groundbreaking Indian American leaders.

This season highlights two influential voices from the Seattle University community: alumna Shasti Conrad, ’07, and Professor Sonora Jha. Conrad, the first South Asian woman to lead a state political party in the U.S. and Associate Chair of the Democratic National Committee, opens the season with an inspiring conversation about growing up as a transracial adoptee in Oregon, the impact of her Seattle U education, and her path to serving in the Obama White House. Professor Jha, a renowned author and faculty member in communications and media, reflects on her award-winning novel The Laughter, which won the 2023 Washington State Book Award for Fiction and transition from journalism to fiction.

Produced by Lower Street, Desi Roots & Routes is available on Apple, Spotify, and all major podcast platforms. Tune in to celebrate the stories of Indian Americans this AAPI Heritage Month. View the trailer here.
