Student and Campus Life Values and Goals
Our Purpose
Student and Campus Life engages the holistic, Jesuit educational experience of all students by cultivating the knowledge, skills and values needed to be leaders and global citizens in a diverse and changing world.
Strategic Values
Student Centeredness: Guided by cura personalis, we place students at the heart of our work by listening to their experiences, honoring their dignity, and responding to their evolving needs.
Inclusive Excellence: Rooted in the belief that every person possesses inherent dignity and worth, we intentionally cultivate a community where diverse perspectives are welcomed, valued, and reflected in our decisions and practice.
Belonging: Through accompaniment, meaningful relationships, and shared community, we foster environments where every student is known, valued, represented, and empowered to thrive.
Data-informed Decision Making: In the spirit of discernment and cura apostolica, we use evidence, inquiry, and student voices to guide decisions, assess impact, and advance innovative solutions that serve the greater good.
Stewardship: As faithful stewards of the people, resources, and opportunities entrusted to us, we act with integrity, accountability and care to maximize our impact on student success and wellbeing.
Strategic Goals
Goal 1: Enhanced Engagement - Student Activity Fee & Athletics
Leverage Student Activity Fee (SAF) and Athletics investments to cultivate a vibrant, interconnected campus culture.
Leverage Student Activity Fee (SAF) investments to catalyze a vibrant, interconnected campus culture. Collaborate with student leaders, SEAC (student programming board) and Athletics to increase student participation and launch new cross-departmental engagement initiatives, directly contributing to measurable improvements in student retention and campus spirit.
Goal 2: Belonging & Retention - Residential Learning Communities
Scale Residential Learning Communities to foster student belonging and retention.
Enhance student retention and belonging by scaling Residential Learning Communities (RLCs). Partner with academic departments to integrate faculty-led experiential learning into residential living environments, creating structured support pathways that increase student-faculty-staff interaction and boost retention scores.
Goal 3: Connection and Access - Graduate, Professional, and South Lake Union Student Integration
Integrate First Hill and South Lake Union students through unified access to resources and programming.
Foster a more cohesive campus environment between the First Hill and South Lake Union campuses, both for undergraduates and graduate and professional studies students. Enhance student connection and belonging by streamlining awareness and access to resources, services, and programming. Drive integration through robust collaboration between offices, staff, student leaders and organizations, and academic partners to cultivate a unified community that supports engagement and academic success across all locations.
Goal 4: Care, Communication, and Student Voice
Strengthen student well-being and trust through coordinated support and authentic communication.
Enhance student well-being, trust, and success by cultivating a unified, coordinated approach to student support and communication. Deepen the integration of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Student Health Center, while refining CARE Team structures to optimize intervention practices. Concurrently, revise the Student Code of Conduct to emphasize learning, accountability, and student development. Through intentional partnerships with student leaders and organizations, expand opportunities for active listening, authentic dialogue, and collaborative feedback, thereby fostering a campus culture built on clear communication, mutual trust, and shared engagement.
