Nominations are now open for the 38th Annual Alumni Awards recognizing service, leadership, diversity and more.
Know a member of Seattle University’s alumni community who goes above and beyond to make the world a better place? Consider nominating them for one of six Alumni Awards recognizing alumni who represent the best in leadership, community engagement and service to others, as well as those who live out the Jesuit mission.
Nominations are now open—until 11 p.m. Monday, October 7—for the 38th Annual Alumni Awards, happening February 28, 2025.
Here’s a look at the different award categories:
Alumna/us of the Year
The highest honor bestowed by the Seattle University Alumni Association, this award recognizes those who represent the mission and Jesuit values of the university. Awardees regularly demonstrate outstanding and purposeful leadership, discernment, service to the university and community, along with a commitment to care, academic excellence, diversity, faith and justice.
Outstanding Recent Alumna/us
This award recognizes alumni who have graduated within the past ten years and whose contributions exemplify the Jesuit mission and values of Seattle University. Recipients of this award serve as role models for current and future graduates through career impact, outstanding leadership and diverse service to their communities.
University Service
This award recognizes those who have had a major impact on the university, its schools, colleges, departments, students or faculty through distinguished leadership and service. These individuals have contributed to the advancement of the academic mission of higher education in the Jesuit tradition and have a longstanding legacy of service with SU.
Professional Achievement
This award celebrates alumni who exhibit exceptional accomplishments and leadership in their professional field while maintaining a career that exemplifies a Seattle University education—demonstrating active inquiry, intellectual curiosity and leadership. Recipients of this award have often gained national or international recognition in their careers.
Community Service
This award is for those who have made a lasting impact in their communities. These individuals embody the university’s values of care, justice, leadership, faith and diversity through service in spiritual, artistic, recreational, educational, social justice or other important areas. Recipients better the quality of life around them through service in their professional or volunteer roles.
Jesuit Mission
This award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated faith that does justice and a commitment and dedication to their communities or causes that better the quality of life for others. These individuals embody the university values of care, justice and leadership, by promoting social change informed and inspired by their faith. Recipients of this award serve in spiritual and faith-based organizations, as well as other areas such as government, education, arts, or recreation in professional or volunteer roles.
For one special night, we'll recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service to the university and community, a commitment to care, academic excellence, diversity, justice and an alignment with our Jesuit values. At the awards ceremony, Seattle University Athletics will also induct two exceptional athletes into the esteemed Hall of Fame.
