Master's Degree in Educating Non-Native English Speakers

The newest master's program in the College of Education is delivered in two parts:

  • 24-credit one-year online ELL Endorsement Academy
  • 24 credits of online graduate coursework

The Educating Non-Native English Speakers program provides graduate students with the skills necessary to provide primary language acquisition support to pre-K-12, non-native English-speaking students, as well as to provide building-level, district, and regional leadership in shaping the educational systems that serve these students.

Master's Degree in Adult Education and Training

Our online Adult Education and Training MAEd or MEd program prepares you to support adult learns from workforce to workplace wherever you are.

Taught by our outstanding faculty in the evenings to meet the needs of working professionals, our interactive courses prepare ethical and reflective practitioners to support adult learners from the workplace to the classroom.

ELL Endorsement Academy

The online English Language Learners (ELL) Endorsement Academy consists of eight classes that meet in virtual, synchronous sessions twice a week in the evenings, with additional asynchronous work throughout the week. Our classes are developed with teacher's schedules in mind. 

This program helps Washington state certified teachers regardless of where they live prepare for the required WEST-E exam, offering a rigorous and affordable pathway to earning an ELL endorsement. Teachers can apply their learning in the classroom immediately and adjust their techniques as the academy progresses. Students must decide during the application process whether they wish to apply the credits to a master's degree in Educating Non-Native English Speakers.

Special Education Endorsement Academy

The online Special Education Endorsement Academy offers teachers Seattle University credits without the commute. The year-long program of 8 courses meets in virtual, synchronous sessions twice a week in the evenings, with additional asynchronous work required throughout the week. Our classes are developed with teacher's schedules in mind. 

This unique program helps Washington state teachers, regardless of where they live, prepare for the required WEST-E exam, offering a rigorous and affordable pathway to earning a Special Education endorsement. Teachers can apply their learning in the classroom immediately and adjust their techniques as the academy progresses.
