To facilitate your application, Seattle University will accept unofficial transcripts for those applying through the spring 2026 term (Official transcripts are required before 2nd quarter registration).

Before starting your application, review the requirements for your preferred program and confirm that you have collected all of the required materials. In order to have your application sent for review, you must speak to an admissions outreach advisor to ensure you meet the admission requirements.

Admission Requirements

  • Completed online application form
  • Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)*
  • Resume demonstrating at least two years of professional work experience
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and post-baccalaureate work. Seattle University accepts official transcripts via a secure electronic delivery system from your issuing university, sent to grad-admissions@seattleu.edu.
    • Transcripts may also be delivered to our office in a sealed envelope from the college or university, or sent by the applicant as long as they remain in their original unopened university envelope.

*Probational admission contingent upon completion of the program’s first 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0 may be offered to students who do not meet these initial criteria.

**Applicants for whom English is a non-native language must demonstrate English proficiency regardless of English language studies, academic history, residence in the United States or other English-speaking countries, and immigration status. However, graduate and post-baccalaureate applicants who received a baccalaureate degree or higher from Seattle University or a recognized college or university in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia, and who remain in a country where English is the primary language for at least two years after graduation, will not be required to submit an English proficiency test score.

Exclusive Alumni Admissions Pathway

The Albers School of Business and Economics proudly offers an accelerated pathway to admission for Seattle University alumni whose record of academic achievement indicates a strong potential for success in the Online MBA program.

The following applicants are eligible for the alumni admissions pathway:

  • Alumni who graduated from the Albers School of Business and Economics with a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Alumni who graduated from Seattle University with an undergraduate or graduate degree with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in one of the following STEM fields: biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering physics, environmental science/studies, mathematics, military science, neuroscience, physics, psychology, public health science, bioengineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, general engineering, mechanical engineering, web design and engineering
  • Alumni who received any undergraduate degree from Seattle University with a cumulative GPA or 3.5 or higher

If you meet one of the above criteria, you will be eligible to apply to the Online MBA with only the following materials:

  • Online application
  • Resume/CV demonstrating at least two years of professional work experience
  • English-language proficiency scores may be requested for international applicants on a case-by-case basis

Official transcripts, letters of recommendations, the optional statement of purpose, and the $55 application fee are not required for alumni admissions pathway applicants!

Probational MBA Admission to Seattle U

Seattle U and the Albers School of Business and Economics are committed to serving a diverse body of students. Have concerns about our current admissions requirements? Know that applicants who do not meet our minimum threshold for regular admissions can still be admitted on a probational basis; in the event of probational admittance, you will need to pass the first 12 credits of your selected program with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale), at which point you will be fully admitted as a regular student.

General Questions

Will I have access to resources on campus?

You have access to all the resources that on-campus students have, including Career Services (even for distance learners who are unable to make it to campus) and the Student Health Center (If you are local) . You can join and participate in student clubs if you are able to make occasional trips to campus, and you can even opt in to the Rec Center (contact Student Financial Services if you wish to opt in and the fee will be added to your tuition bill). More information on these opportunities is available during the online new student orientation.

Are there any on-campus or in-person requirements?

The Online MBA program requires attendance at a three-day, two-night residency retreat during the first few weeks of your first term. The retreat is part of the program’s first course, OMBA 5205 Teams and Decision-Making, and features networking, team building, and leadership training activities.

What is the tuition?

Tuition for the Online MBA program is calculated on a per-credit-hour basis. Tuition and fee information can be found here.

Are lectures live or tests proctored?

Some courses may have live lectures or proctored tests; it is up to individual instructors to decide whether they think this is appropriate for their course.

Is there a minimum GPA needed to graduate?

The Online MBA program requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 to graduate. Note that a C- grade is considered failing and will not count toward completion of your degree.

Am I invited to on-campus graduation?

Yes! Students are highly encouraged to attend graduation.

Can I choose what classes to take each term?

At this time, courses for the Online MBA are offered in sequence throughout the entirety of the program.

If you need to go off-sequence from the recommended program plan, you may work with a student success coordinator to create an individualized program plan.

Can I take breaks from the program?

You may take one leave of absence for up to one year. If you require another leave of absence after the one allotted, it must be approved by the dean.

What size will my classes be?

The average class size is 20 to 25 students.

Are scholarships available from Seattle University?

Scholarships specific to the Online MBA program are not available at this time, but we encourage you to contact Student Financial Services at +1-206-220-8020 or financialservices@seattleu.edu with questions regarding financial aid.

What are my funding options?

Online graduate business students may be eligible for a variety of loans and grants. Be sure to file the FAFSA to establish your eligibility for government-sponsored financial aid.

If you are accepted into either the Online MBA, more details on funding options will be sent to you by your Student Success Coordinator.

How will I interact with my classmates?

Albers strongly believes in the value of direct interaction and interpersonal communication for developing empathetic, collaborative business professionals. Our online business students can connect via the Zoom videochat app, course discussion boards, or email, and students local to the Seattle area sometimes meet for in-person study groups as well.

I have a vacation planned. What are my options if I have already started class?

If you are aware of upcoming travel plans, we advise you to complete work for your course(s) ahead of time. Reach out to your instructor to see what options you may have in terms of due dates. If your scheduled trip is within the drop deadline, you may drop a course and have your program plan resequenced if necessary. It is always best to plan trips when you will not have any courses; keep in mind that instructors do not have to modify any due dates.

How long does the Online MBA program typically take to complete? Am I able to finish it sooner?

The Online MBA program consists of 54 credits and takes 2.5 years (9 quarters) to complete.

Is this a full-time or a part-time MBA program?

While the Online MBA program technically carries a full-time course load (two courses per quarter), the actual experience of the program is much more aligned with a flexible part-time MBA. Our online learning environment allows you to complete your coursework on your own time, in coordination with a full-time job and other responsibilities, and year-round scheduling ensures that the program can be completed in a timely manner (nine academic quarters).

What type of career opportunities are there upon completion of the program?

With what companies and in what industries do your graduates work?

The following companies recruit heavily from Seattle University: Amazon, Boeing, Blue Nile, CBRE, Ernst & Young, Holland America, ING Financial Partners, King County, New York Life, Nordstrom, PACCAR, Revel Consulting, and T-Mobile, as well as a host of small- to medium-sized companies.

Is there a study abroad course available?

Yes, students can choose to take a study tour course in place of OMBA 5310. Along with our on-campus students, you will travel for two weeks and learn about international business topics. Each trip will have at least one 3-credit class associated with it, and the course subjects and locations vary every year. What is the difference between the Online MBA program and its on-ground counterpart?

What are the faculty's credentials? Are they working professionals outside of academia?

Our business faculty is a diverse group, some of whom hold PhDs, MBA degrees, and JDs. They have risen through the ranks at Fortune 100 companies, helped grow small businesses from the ground up into formidable organizations, and published studies in high-impact academic journals. Some have worked solely in academia, but the majority have experience outside of academia as well, in roles that include:
