Expertise: Caron has nearly 15 years of experience working with and within state and local governments on a broad range of policy issues including transportation, taxation, environment, energy, election reform and access, education, housing, and healthcare. With expertise in engaging and working with legislative bodies, she provides strategic and political guidance to a wide range of organizations on federal, state, and local policies under consideration. She also provides analysis and review on campaigns and election results. 

MPA Courses: Caron teaches Policy Analysis in the MPA Program.  

Why teaching in the MPA program: As a graduate of SU’s MPA program, she sees the program as a highly valuable tool to prepare students to work in the policy field. The program’s focus on advocating for social justice in the policy process is unique and prepares students for the needs of many employers.

Student interest areas: Caron enjoys teaching students about the legislative process. She is particularly interested in helping students learn how to participate in the public process of passing legislation as well as advocating for policy items of interest.

Brief bio: Caron is a senior advisor at Insight Strategic Partners, a public and government relations firm in Seattle. She works with clients to promote their policy interests at different government levels. Before joining Insight, she was the State Relations Director and Lobbyist for the City of Seattle where she managed the City’s state portfolio and advocated on behalf of the City’s many interests. Prior to her time at the City, Caron worked at K&L Gates where she supported school districts and their needs at the state level. She built the foundation of her Olympia-based work at the Washington State Legislature where she spent almost five years as an Executive Legislative Aide to two legislators. She lives in Seattle with her husband and daughter where they enjoy exploring the city by foot.
