Looking for something to do over the next two weeks? Well, be careful what you wish for-the rest of the month offers a jam-packed schedule of SU events running the gamut from the intellectual to the athletic to the spiritual. In addition to two intriguing events highlighted in All Things Jesuit, here's an incomplete and not necessarily chronological rundown of what's happening at the university for the rest of January.

International Education Week:  SU's award-winning International Education Week kicks off this week and crescendos with the ever-popular International Dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25. In between, you'll find a smorgasbord of events to celebrate the geographic and cultural diversity of our student, staff and faculty communities. This year's theme is "Exploring Our Cultural Roots." Check out the FULL SCHEDULE. Exhibitions:  The Department of Fine Arts is currently offering two captivating exhibitions that you'll want to check out. One features the solo works of Trung Pham, S.J., and the other is curated by Naomi Kasumi, both Fine Arts faculty. Fr. Pham teaches drawing, painting, sculpture and 3-D design. "Book Art in Siena" includes works created by Kasumi's class during their four-week study abroad seminar and workshop based in Siena, Italy. Read more about the exhibits here.

Martin Luther King Celebration:  "Imagine a World" is the theme of this annual event, which takes place 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Pigott Auditorium (doors open at 6 p.m.). Celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with special performances from our very own Seattle University community who are imagining a world and YouthSpeaks Seattle, the Liberation United Church of Christ Choir and Hip Hop artist Gabriel Teodros. Click here for more information. Philippines Benefit Concert and Fasting:  The Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability invites you to this fundraiser for victims of the Typhoon Haiyan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Campion Ballroom. The featured performer is YouTube sensation AJ Rafael, a Filipino-American whose music has received more than 90 million hits since 2006. All proceeds from the concert will benefit School of the SEA (Sea and Earth Advocates), a leading environmental education organization whose facilities were devastated by the typhoon. A fast will be held in conjunction with the concert to bring awareness to the issue. For more information visit Benefit and Fast.

Albers Welcomes Boeing's Ray Conner:  The Albers Executive Speaker Series welcomes Ray Conner, vice chairman of The Boeing Company and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, in Pigott Auditorium. The title of his talk will be "Delivering Value to Customers in a More-for-Less World."

"Themes of American Catholic History":  How does American Catholicism look from the perspective of global Catholicism? Mel Piehl, Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture visiting scholar, will take up this question as he discusses the central features of American Catholicism and explores Catholics' encounter with the "idea of America" itself. The lunch and dialogue takes place 12:15-1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, in the Stuart Rolfe Community Room of the Admissions and Alumni Building.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity:  Sponsored by the School of Theology and Ministry, the week of prayer is a significant ecumenical event dating back to 1908. Eight days are set aside between Jan. 18 and 25 for Christians to remember who they are-a unified group with the same foundation in Jesus Christ. Christians from around the world join together in the same prayers prepared by a group from around the world that is appointed by the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
