Associate Professor of Sociology Rachel E. Luft in the College of Arts and Sciences has received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Last year the foundation awarded Luft a primary grant for her project titled “Politicized Healing/Healing Justice: The Politics of Personal and Collective Transformation in Social Movements for Racial and Gender Justice.” This new grant supplements her existing work as she addresses the role of healing justice during COVID-19 and nationwide racial justice uprisings.

Luft’s research “focuses on the ways in which healing justice projects are transforming social change cultures, strategies and tactics within social justice movements of the people most impacted by oppression.”
