Primary Care Nurse Practitioner - Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Specialty
The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PCNP) track prepares graduates to provide direct care to individuals and families. Four specialties are available: Family Primary Care, Psychiatric Mental Health with Addictions Focus, Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse-Midwifery. Program graduates are prepared for independent and collaborative decision-making in disease prevention, health promotion and maintenance, physical and psychosocial assessment, and management of health and illness. Students in each of the primary care specialties have the opportunity to develop the nurse practitioner role in underserved and community-based settings.
The Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner specialty requires completion of 71-74 course credits and 690 clinical hours. Full-time and post-master’s study options are available. Students choose between the Scholarly Project (3 credits) and Thesis (6 credits) for their capstone experience.
Seattle University College of Nursing was granted a full 10-year accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in 2002.
