| About the 2008 Conference
We are pleased to announce that this year Seattle University’s Psychology Department will host the North American Levinas Society conference to be held on 8/31, 9/1, and 9/2/2008. NALS is planning some exciting speakers this year including Georges Hansel of the Levinas family, Robert Gibbs, Rabbi Ira Stone, Tina Chanter, and Michael B. Smith.
In order to maximize participation in this larger event, our Psychology for the Other seminar will not be held separately for this year. We will continue our discussions of the relevance of Emmanuel Levinas’ philosophy for psychology and the practice of psychotherapy as a part of NALS broader conference!
NALS has set aside special time slots for papers and panel discussions by Psychology for the Other participants, to be specifically focused on Levinas and psychology. This is our opportunity to showcase our work to a broader audience! We will review and choose those few submissions that best fit our designated theme, then forward these on to NALS. Send your abstracts by May 1st to gkunz@seattleu.edu Of course, if you have works on Levinas and more diverse themes we encourage you to submit abstracts directly to NALS for their consideration via their CFP.
A special no host dinner and welcome gathering will be held on Saturday evening for regular Psychology for the Other participants. Register ahead, but pay $15.00 at the door. Please note that all attending the NALS conference must register on their web site which includes conference announcements and fee information at http://www.levinas-society.org/home.html
