SU Voice - Alumni Blog Post

  • Welcome from Fr. Steve

PresidentI am very excited to welcome you to our new alumni blog. We are launching this blog to strengthen our engagement with all of you.  At convocation this September, I shared with the university’s faculty and staff that listening to our alumni community is a top priority.  Your perspective and input is incredibly valuable to us. I hope you will use this blog as a platform to provide us with timely feedback about what is on your mind, let us know what is (and is not) working for you, and how best we can serve you in engaging with your fellow alumni, faculty, staff and university leadership.  You have my commitment in ensuring that your voices are heard so that we work together in shaping our common future.  I look forward to hearing from all of you.

    Best regards,

    Fr. Stephen V. Sundborg S.J.
    President of Seattle University

It is good to have an official way to comment on the university's doings.

Thanks for creating this new blog to engage with alumni. I know this avenue of communicating doesn't work for everyone - but for some it's becoming the "front porch" or "commons" where information is shared. It makes the world a bit smaller and opportunities larger. The most successful organizations are adept at listening and responding - I'm glad that Seattle University is in that category.

What a grand idea! There are so many of us who have such fond memories of our days at Seattle U! Days of enlightenment and freeing of the spirit! Some of us are able to stay in touch with the help of facebook now! Great! I will never forget Tom Francoeur, the sweetest man, Tom Hart and Kathy Fisher, Bob and Diane Basham and all the others! It was like dying each summer and going to heaven! It pulled me out of the cave and into the light. It gave me great joy. Sharing it all with my daughter, who was a young child then, was the icing on the cake. Seattle U is up there in the list of the things I love...not far from John Lennon! Hugs! xo

    and to the University.

I love the idea... But how do we start our own topic? Or do we only have the ability to comment on what's already been posted...? It doesn't seem clear to me. Perhaps it's not quite iPhone friendly?

Hi Brenna- For now, only the ability to comment but we'd love to have some alumni post authors if there is a subject you'd like to cover. Please let me know!

I have often wished for this and I am glad to see this forum now possible. I think this is great! I am from the class of '73 School of Nursing. The values taught to me at SU have served me well in life. Thank you for doing this.

Thank you for the opportunity to reconnect with Seattle University. I graduated from the School of Education '74, working full-time while I was a full-time student, not leaving any time for campus activities. Still, I cherish the values of my Jesuit education every day.
