Albers Alumni Breakfast Speaker Series:

"Business Succession Planning: How to Plan for your Next Business CEO"

October 11, 2012 | 7:00-9:00 a.m.

We invite you to to begin the day with our Albers Alumni Breakfast Speaker Series event for the Fall quarter.   Dr. Holly Ferraro, Assistant Professor of Management, and Steve Loeb of Alaska Distributors Company will examine how to discuss and plan for future leadership transitions your business may experience.  If family leadership needs to move to the next generation or, if no family member wishes to step forward, then what alternatives exist?  These issues cross business boundaries when leaders decide to move on or step down.  What are the implications of these shifts for your business strategy in the near and medium term?  Dr. Ferraro’s research on organizational behavior and career transitions, when discussing leadership changes and succession, are applicable to all businesses.  Steve Loeb has successfully managed a generational discussion and business transfer and will share his experience in making the process successful for all parties involved.

Dr. Ferraro holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Maryland.   Her research is on the role of networks in career transition decision-making. She is especially interested in the role of professional identity and the influence it may have on individuals and businesses.

Steve Loeb has been President and CEO of Alaska Distributors Co. and is now Treasurer of the Loeb Family Charitable Foundations.  He serves on the Boards of Pomona College, KCTS9, the Washington Roundtable and Chairs the Museum of Glass, as well as serving on three company boards/advisory boards.  He is an active angel investor.  Steve has a B.A. in Economics from Pomona College and an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.

The presentation will be held on October 11, 2012 in the Student Center Building LeRoux Room, Room 160, at Seattle University.  Follow this link for a map of the campus and parking locations: http://www.seattleu.edu/maps/.  Registration and a full breakfast will begin at 7:00 a.m.  We promise urns of hot coffee to get you started.  We will have plenty of time for your questions and will end promptly at 9:00 a.m.
