Business Ethics Week

April 15 – 19

Business professionals will visit 100 classes to talk about their own experiences of working through ethical issues in the workplace.

On Monday, our keynote address will feature Sheri Flies, who will talk about a major sustainability initiative at Costco (24 in the Fortune 500) and her journey from a lawyer in the legal department to a merchandise manager and now to a sustainability section. On Thursday, a student panel will reflect on the week's activities and suggest ways to further integrate ethics into the business curriculum in an effective and practical way. If you are interested in speaking to a class about your experience with ethical issues in the workplace, please contact John Dienhart by email or by phone.

Integrating Ethics into the Business Curriculum

The Center for Business Ethics will host workshops this spring for faculty to integrate ethics into their business classes. The workshops will focus on the topics of our introductory Business Ethics course so students will see the continuity between their stand-alone course on business ethics and ethical issues in other business courses. As far as we know, we are the only school in the nation that will have such a tightly integrated approach to ethics. If you have thoughts about is a life easier his integrating ethics into the business curriculum, please contact John Dienhart by email or phone.

The Center will host Mary Gentile, an internationally recognized leader in integrating ethics into the curriculum. Mary will visit us on May 2 and 3. She will meet with Albers leadership, program directors, and faculty about effective ways to introduce ethics into their courses.
