Admission Requirements

GPA Requirements

Ordinarily, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale where an A is 4.00) is required for transfer admission consideration. Applications are reviewed carefully; primary consideration given to course selection, academic trend, and individual course performance. The average GPA of admitted transfer students is 3.44.

Prerequisite Requirements

Prerequisite requirements may apply to all majors. Consult the Typical Two Year Program of Study for more information on specific major prerequisite requirements or email transfer@seattleu.edu to receive a checklist of requirements for individual majors.

Students applying to Seattle University apply directly to the major they intend to pursue. Many programs at Seattle University require or recommend prerequisite courses be completed prior to transferring. Students should utilize the Plan Your Transfer tools on the Transfer Admission page to find specific prerequisite information.

Please refer to Washington State's Running Start Program to review freshmen admission requirements regarding Running Start and Nursing.

Gaps in Education

If an applicant has a gap in education, they may be asked to establish a current academic record at another college or university prior to applying for transfer admission at Seattle University. Please contact a Transfer Admissions Counselor for more information.
