The Seattle University Transportation Office has a comprehensive Driver Authorization process, which includes the steps below. Applicants are required to be 19 years of age or older and must apply for driver authorization each academic year (each September).
First-time 19 and 20-year-old applicants must first complete the pre-authorization screening process to ensure eligibility, the first time they apply to drive a University Vehicle. If you are a returning 19 and/or 20-year-old, who was authorized the previous academic year to drive University Vehicles you do not need to complete the form. Access this process via the link on the right-hand side of this page. Applicants for driver authorization who are 21 years of age or older do not need to complete this form.
The Application for Driver Authorization can be found in the box on the right-hand side of the page. You will also find links to the Driver Safety Training and the Van Safety Training in that box. You should allow approximately 30 minutes for each training (1 hour total), which include interactive assessments of your learning throughout your review.
Applications for Driver Authorization take three to five business days to process. Notification of your driver status will be emailed to your SU email address.
