Seattle University’s Summer Business Institute is an Albers School of Business & Economics program focused on social entrepreneurship. The program provides the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship, marketing, data visualization, accounting, economics, and more!

Ajay Abraham obtained a PhD in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to his PhD, he worked at multiple organizations including Microsoft and Wipro, in roles spanning marketing, program management, pre-sales, research, content development, technology, and technology evangelism. At Albers, Dr. Abraham teaches MBA Marketing Management and undergraduate Personal Selling and Introduction to Marketing.

Eric Lloyd comes from a background of working in industry as a Senior Data Scientist and teaching at several community colleges before Seattle University, including Palm Beach State College and North Seattle College. He is excited about helping to engage young men and women to pursue their careers through higher education and especially in anything related to data science.
Currently, Eric is developing himself by returning to get his Ph.D. in Computer Science as well as returning to research around machine learning optimization with a focus on Natural Language Processing. He is also involved with the Summer Business Institute here at Seattle University and looks to become more involved with helping students to succeed.

Geneva (“Eva”) Sedgwick has 20 years of experience working in higher education. She has designed online courses in law and ethics in business analytics for both Seattle University and for Microsoft on its EDx platform. Her research interests rest at the intersection of human rights and innovative, entrepreneurial business and education models. Dr. Sedgwick has been recognized nationally for her innovative teaching and also recognized for her scholarly work in the areas of employee privacy law and social entrepreneurship. She is published in such journals as the Stanford Technology Law Review and the American Business Law Journal.
Dr. Sedgwick has been the Director of University Summer Programs at Seattle University since 2017 and in that role is responsible for undergraduate summer enrollment and pre-collegial immersions, including an emerging transition program for students from under-represented communities. Eva believes her ongoing role as a faculty member gives her a unique perspective as a university administrator and has greatly enhanced her ability to be successful in this university leadership role. She also believes her legal education and experience as an attorney provide her an advantage in focusing on process and procedure that are necessary to think and act strategically as Director of University Summer Programs.
Eva is a skilled negotiator and collaborator. She is passionate about contributing to the creative evolution of higher education. She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Boston College; a JD from Villanova University School of Law; and an LL.M in International Law from New York University School of Law.

Gabriel Saucedo joined Seattle University in 2014 from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Prior to completing his PhD, Gabriel earned his undergraduate business administration degree from Gonzaga University, and then spent 6 years with KPMG-Seattle in the audit practice, focusing on consumer product and healthcare clients. Gabriel's research is in the area of auditor and investor decision-making, with specific focuses in feedback systems, voluntary disclosures, and human capital. In addition, Gabriel writes academic cases for classroom integration, three of which have won awards from the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section of the American Accounting Association.

Holly Slay Ferraro's research examines how people grapple with dimensions of self (e.g. age, race, gender) in making career decisions and in various contexts such as family businesses. She is also interested in how organizational and institutional practices contribute to struggles with aspects of identity. Her aim is to add to our knowledge of how growth, learning, and superior performance occur in the face of forces that cause people to question their beliefs about who they are or should be.

Vladimir Dashkeev joined the Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University after earning his PhD in economics from the University of Washington. His research areas are macroeconomics, international macroeconomics, and fiscal policy. Vladimir’s recent studies investigate the effects of asymmetric balanced-budget rules and tax system heterogeneity on interregional risk sharing in a fiscal union. Prior to joining the faculty at Seattle University, he was a research fellow at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, where he had the honor of working alongside Yegor Gaidar, the first prime minister in the history of post-Soviet Russia. The Institute is a Moscow think-tank specializing in economic policy research and industry consulting.
