Sullivan Application Step-by-Step Instructions


1. Submit a Common Application by November 15

First, submit your Common Application to Seattle University no later than the Early Action deadline of November 15th. About 24 hours after you submit your Common Application, you will receive an email inviting you to log into your Applicant Status Portal.

2. Log in to your SU Applicant Status Portal

After following the instructions in your email, log into your SU Applicant Status Portal. You'll find a checklist of general admissions items and other helpful resources.

3. Click on "Apply Now" under the Sullivan Leadership Award header

Scroll down the page in your application portal to find the "Apply Now" button. If for some reason you do not see a button for the Sullivan Application, connect with your Admissions Counselor to learn more.

4. Review the Sullivan Leadership Application steps

You'll affirm your eligibility, upload your leadership resume, and make selections regarding your recommendation letter.

5. Review your Eligibility

The Sullivan Leadership Award is eligible to first-year students residing in and attending school in the USA.

6. Upload Leadership Resume

Upload a resume of service and leadership experiences. Please name the file RESUME. Review the Sullivan Resume Sample for reference.

7. Travel Grant application (optional)

If you are interested in being considered for travel funds to attend Sullivan Leaders' Day, please indicate as such.

8. Make your Recommendation Selection

You have two option: use a recommendation from an individual who is already submitting one on your behalf for the Common Application, or submit a new recommendation.

9. For Common App Recommendations: Indicate Recommender Name

Make sure to include the name of the recommendation you would like us to use so we can appropriately match your application.

10. For New Recommendations: Select "No"

You'll add your recommender information in the Applicant Status Portal. It may take about 15 minutes for the recommender option to appear after hitting Submit.

11. Click Submit

Submit your Sullivan Application.

After roughly 10-15 minutes, a new "Sullivan" tab will appear.

13. For New Recommendations: Select "Sullivan Recommendation"

14. Click on Add Recommender

15. Complete Recommender information

Make sure "Sullivan Scholarship Recommendation" and "To be submitted electronically by the recommender" are selected.

16. Write Personal Note

If you like, you may write a short personal note to be included in the notification message emailed to your recommender.

18. Click Send To Recommender

Your recommender will receive an email with your personal note, as well as a link to the recommendation form.

19. Review your Sullivan Checklist

Reference your Applicant Status Portal to confirm your recommendation letter has been received, or politely remind your recommender as needed.
