One of the challenges the library faces is familiarizing students with the resources and services available to them––and to do so before students’ graduating year! Committed to helping students explore their academic and creative interests, the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons is much more than a home to books, journals (both print and electronic) and media items.

The video series “Explore the Library” showcases the library’s offerings through individual chapters. Now, students (and many faculty and staff, too) can see what’s available to them before even stepping foot in the building.

Today’s library is home to bicycle repair stations and a screening room, loaning students DSLR cameras, audio recording equipment and computers––of course, all of this in addition to books!

“Student budgets can be tight. They’ve made an investment in their education, and we want to support them. By opening the doors to a vast scholarly information ecosystem and serving as a guide in their academic and personal endeavors, we can be an integral part of their success here at Seattle University,” says Jacob Smithers, marketing and communications strategist for the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons.

Understanding everything available at the library might be the first step in feeling you belong there, so check out the playlist here: Explore the Library YouTube Playlist. Each video contains two to four individual chapters to help you find the exact information you need.
