PWOB Spring Break Service Trip to Belize

PWOB Students

  • Opportunity for 5 students
  • Liberty Children’s Home in Ladyville, Belize: March 17–26, 2023
  • Trip costs $1,800 and includes meals, on-site lodging, travel connections, airfare and two excursion days to the Mayan temples and a “beach day.” Time permitting, may include the Belize Zoo, an animal rehabilitation and ecological shelter.

PWOB will perform the following: paint and stain the 2 two story wooden administration and volunteer lodging buildings, change lightbulbs, donation sorting, intense cleaning and yardwork as well as an evaluation of the compound water retainage and drainage system. 

Participants will interact with the children residents daily by walking them to the bus stop, and assisting with homework and recreation time.  

Liberty is a gated compound with security guards and a video surveillance system. There are approximately 38 children, ages 3 to 17, living there full-time.

Students will be considered in order of application receipt date. All applications due by Dec. 9. Students who are accepted by PWOB and approved by Student Development will be required to volunteer at PWOB fundraiser auction on Feb 11, 2023.

  • Belize primary language is English
  • No experience necessary
  • Must be enrolled in spring quarter to be considered
  • Three PWOB team trainings and one Education Abroad training required prior to departure
