Seattle University hosts Tolton: From Slave to Priest, a powerful multimedia live production, filled with music, drama and inspiring performances. Actor Jim Coleman tells the story of Fr. Augustus Tolton, who was the first African American priest in the United States and is now being considered for sainthood by the Vatican. From his dramatic escape from slavery to his courageous struggle in the face of prejudice, Fr. Tolton’s inspiring life centers around the message of reconciliation, hope and Christ's all-encompassing love. The performance is filled with all the elements of professional theater, runs 75 minutes and is suitable for ages 10 and up.
