During the podcast, Rev. Dr. Breyer shared, “The women there (in Afghanistan) are incredibly strong and dedicated people, if they can do it, we can continue on.”

Rev. Dr. Chloe Breyer has served as director of the Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) since 2007. For more than 25 years, ICNY has worked to overcome prejudice, violence and misunderstanding by activating the power of pioneering curriculums in civics training for grassroots religious leaders. Rev. Dr. Breyer has built multifaith advocacy coalitions preventing bias crimes and promotes criminal justice and immigration reform.

In addition to local religious peacemaking work, she has also participated in interfaith dialogue, humanitarian aid and regular travel to Afghanistan—including as a member of an American Women's Peace and Education delegation in March of 2022.

She is the author of The Close: A Young Woman’s First Year at Seminary (Basic Books 2000) as well as several chapter contributions, op-eds and articles. Her doctoral dissertation in Christian Ethics at Union Theological Seminary was on interfaith activism, Christian peacemaking and Islamophobia.
