Restorative Community–Police Dialogue Circles

Posted: March 14, 2022

Faculty and staff are encouraged to spread the word of this new, one-credit practicum course, which is open to all SU undergraduate and graduate students and serves as a criminal justice major or a general elective.

Developed through conversations between student leaders in the Department of Criminal Justice, Criminology & Forensics Criminal Justice Club and Honor Society and Seattle Police Department personnel, the practicum is a rare opportunity for students and police to engage in a conversation in a restorative circle dialogue format. The course will be co-facilitated by SU Criminal Justice student leader/Criminal Justice Honor Society Co-President Shannon Christensen and SPD Officer Matthew Roberson, who is a member of the department’s Crime & Justice advisory committee

The practicum meets four Fridays (April 22 and 29 and May 6 and 13). Students can register for the course, which is listed as CRJS 491-02/591-02, on My SU Courses. Please contact Jackie Helfgott with any questions at jhelfgot@seattleu.edu.
