Hindus for Human Rights and Creative Responses to Derision

Nikhil Mandalaparthy is the advocacy director for Hindus for Human
Rights, and was interviewed recently by Dr. Michael Reid Trice, director of the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE). Mandalaparthy's organization advocates for pluralism, civil and human rights in South Asia and North America. He previously worked at the Aspen Institute's Inclusive America Project. Mandalaparthy's writing and reporting on religion and politics in South Asia and its diaspora has appeared in global media outlets, and he was a 2019 Student Fellow with the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. He also currently runs an Instagram account called Voices of Bhakti (@voicesofbhakti), showcasing poetry on religion, caste and gender from South Asia and beyond in more than 30 languages. Mandalaparthy serves as a board member of
Sadhana: Coalition of Progressive Hindus. 

Mandalaparthy shares that "We are trying to take all these kernels of ethical and moral vision from our traditions and infuse them with this political urgency."
