According to Richard Light, Director of the Harvard Assessment Project and author of, Making the Most of College, “Good advising may be the single most underestimated characteristic of a successful college experience”, (p.81). Enhancing academic advising to create a high-value experience for all new students is our first key strategy. While we continue to have a de-centralized model that fits the needs of each school/college, our goal is to create unity without uniformity.
- Redesign College/School Welcome Week activity to provide a strong introduction to academic advising.
- Hold a required Registration Workshop in Fall 2018 for all first time in college (FTIC) students to better equip them to participate in priority registration.
- Facilitate increased information available to advisors about their advisees to assist in their transition.
