FAQ Spring Quarter 2020

What are my options if I have health insurance that covers me where I am living during Spring quarter but previously my waiver was denied because it doesn’t provide coverage in Washington State?

Follow the instructions for submitting a waiver for spring/summer term and if your insurance meets the coverage requirements in the state you are living it will be approved.

Coverage requirements are:

  • Be Owned, Headquartered, and Operated In the United States
  • Provide Primary Care Services in the area you are residing during Spring quarter
  • Provide Emergency Care in the area you are residing during Spring quarter
  • Offer Inpatient and Outpatient Mental-Health Benefits in the area you are residing during Spring quarter
  • Offer Unlimited Prescription Benefits
  • Offer Full Coverage for All Preexisting Conditions

Once on campus classes resume, the requirement for coverage in Washinton State will go back into effect.

Will the Aetna Student Insurance cover me outside of Washington State?

YES. Aetna has worldwide coverage. To find providers in your area please go to the Aetna website for Seattle University.
