Insurance Waiver

Mandatory Insurance Requirement

Full-time undergraduate students at Seattle University are required to have health insurance but may waive the student health plan if they have health insurance with comparable coverage in the state of Washington. If not waived, the student will be automatically enrolled in the Aetna Student Health plan.

Students must actively waive the health insurance every academic year. Waivers from previous years do not roll over.

If you already have an approved waiver for fall 2019 or winter 2020 that waiver will apply through 8/31/2020 and you do not need to complete another waiver this quarter.

If you will be living outside of Washington State during Spring quarter then the requirement is enrollment in a health insurance plan which gives you coverage for primary care, emergency care, and  inpatient/outpatient mental health benefits in the area you are living. In addition it must offer unlimited prescrition benefits and full coverage for all pre-existing conditions as well as be owned, headquartered, and operated in the United States and provide prescription benefit.

Spring/summer term waiver deadline has been moved to April 21, 2020.
