School of Theology and Ministry Welcomes New Director of Stewardship!

December 2, 2016
The School of Theology and Ministry is excited to welcome Senior Director of Stewardship, Maria Groen. Maria has had an extensive career in development and is a valuable addition to the school community. Her experience as both a fundraiser and grantmaker for a wide range of local organizations includes roles at: Children’s Hospital, The Collins Group, REI, Kreielsheimer Foundation, Philanthropy Northwest and the YMCA of Greater Seattle. She recently surpassed a $4 million fund-raising goal to expand the West Settle YMCA. The unifying theme in Maria’s 30 year philanthropy career is helping donors and volunteers focus their passions and leverage their resources to further their values in the world.

Maria says:
"Seattle University’s mission, vision and values resonate with my own. The School of Theology and Ministry and its Center for Religious Wisdom & World Affairs are undertaking groundbreaking work that I feel called to support. That pull comes from, in part, my strong belief that people thrive in faith communities and our society desperately needs all faiths to work together to create a more just and humane world. Contributing to these efforts is an honor."
