MORAL MONDAYS at SU is an initiative at Seattle University with the goals of:
- Advocating for Seattle University as a place and space for the national conversation on race, police violence, and the #BlackLivesMatter movement
- Focusing on the Black presence--past, present, and future--at Seattle University
- Highlighting the ways in which Seattle University directly or indirectly contributes to the problems and / or solutions facing Black communities
- Founded in October of 2014, by staff member and alumni Tyrone Brown ('10), the initiative was inspired by the Weekend of Resistance held in response to the tragic death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
The name MORAL MONDAYS at SU is inspired by the Moral Monday grassroots protest movement out of North Carolina. Events and programs are held every Monday of each quarter from the first Monday of classes through the Monday before finals week. See below for information on events coming up in November and be a part of this important movement. Be sure to stay in touch with MORAL MONDAYS at SU via Facebook, Tumblr, and Email.
