One of the most memorable beginning of year traditions at Seattle University is the Mass of the Holy Spirit, held at the Immaculate Conception Church on 18th Avenue and East Marion Street. President Stephen Sundborg, S.J. leads faculty, staff and both undergraduate and graduate students in a procession from the university campus to the church.

The Mass is the annual prayer gathering for the university community for God's spirit to bless our endeavors. All students, faculty and staff are welcome.

Attendees will form a processional after the Mass and will proceed down E. Marion and continue directly to the plaza in front of Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., shuttles will also be departing from the university seal (11th & E. Marion Street) and to Immaculate Conception Church.

Faculty of all faiths are welcome and encouraged to robe and participate in the academic procession that is part of the Mass and remain robed for the processional pilgrimage back to campus.

All are welcome to an ice cream social at the Lemieux Library plaza where Dr. Tim Leary, the university?s Executive Vice President, will provide brief welcoming comments.
