Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership Alumnus, John Fauver, has accepted a new position as Senior Manager of Operations for the Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI). Fauver was drawn to the role because “it was a chance to take on new opportunities and challenges” he explains. “This position offers me an opportunity to expand my skill set beyond just the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) field where I will also oversee facilities management, vivarium, and glasswash departments at PNRI.”
Fauver has previously worked at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) as their Environmental Health and Safety Manger and used his Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership (MATL) degree to launch scientific leadership workshops targeting postdocs and senior graduate students to develop leadership skills beyond the laboratory. (See previous news story for more information).
With his new role at PNRI, Fauver will provide support and service to their scientific laboratories and Urban Innovation Center. He will oversee the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Facilities, Vivarium, and Glasswash departments, and provide leadership for delivering quality customer service. Fauver will also administer PNRI’s Health and Safety programs, and work with their scientific staff and tenants to assure compliance with WISHA, OSHA, DOT and all relevant regulations.
“My MATL degree has helped me to prepare for such a role by giving me the confidence to take calculated risks, to recognize my gifts and talents in order to use them to benefit others, and the courage to wave through such a transition” Fauver explains. “It has also given me the motivation and confidence to step beyond my current role, and to recognize that I am a leader in the community that should always strive to make positive contributions both in the work place and in my personal life.”
