School of Theology & Ministry Graduating Student Blessing and Picnic

Every year, the Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry gathers faculty, staff, students, family, and friends to celebrate our graduating students and honor all of their hard work and achievement. This intimate event is a beautiful testament to the way each of our students finds a home in this unique learning community. We hope all of the school's community members can make this year's event!

Seattle University Baccalaureate Mass

Students of all faiths and their families are invited and encouraged to participate in the Baccalaureate Mass. Tickets are not required for the Baccalaureate Mass, but seating is limited.

Saturday, June 11 | 2:30 p.m.
St. James Cathedral

Robing: All degree candidates are to wear their caps, gowns and hoods for the Baccalaureate Mass. You may change into your academic robes in St. James Cathedral Hall, entrance on Columbia Street beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The processional line forms on the south side of Marion between 9th Avenue and Terry Avenue, weather permitting. If it is raining, students should gather in Cathedral Hall.  Please arrive by 2:15 p.m. to be a part of the processional. The processional will begin at 2:30 p.m. with faculty members leading the group. For this event there is no precise marching order; simply line up two-by-two. Faculty marshals will direct you into pews and organize the recessional from the church. St. James Cathedral is located at 804 9th Ave, Seattle, WA, near Ninth and Marion in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood just blocks from Seattle University.

Participants and guests can park in pay parking garages near KeyArena. Disabled parking is available in all garages. There are garages at 220 1st Ave. N (across from KeyArena); 650 3rd Ave. N (approx. 2 blocks away); and 516 Harrison St (approx. 5 blocks away).

Robing: All degree candidates are to wear their caps, gowns, and hoods for commencement. Please have your guests hold your cell phone, purse, bag, coat etc. during the ceremony as there is no secured location for these items in KeyArena, and you likely will not want to process with them. Please remember to keep your name card (that the bookstore issued) with you.
