Dear Staff and Faculty,

When I announced last week the establishment of the Staff Council at SU, I shared that I would be consulting with the elections committee to select the council’s first president from the Steering Committee that had led the effort to create the council.

At yesterday’s event to officially launch the council, I was pleased to announce that Leann Wagele, assistant dean in the School of Law, will be the first Staff Council president. She will serve a 1 ½-year term. After that, the president will be an elected position.

Leann has been with SU for 14 years, serving in a number of staff positions at the law school. She has served on the Steering Committee for the Staff Council for the past 18 months, most recently as co-chair. As the council’s first president, she will provide invaluable institutional knowledge and continuity, carrying forward the work the committee has done to get the council formed and launched. Please join me in congratulating Leann and thanking her for her continued service.

As I shared in my announcement last week, I encourage you to nominate a colleague or yourself for a position on the council. I look forward to the results of the elections, which will take place toward the end of January, and working in partnership with the council to build an even better Seattle University.

Sincerely,

Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J.
President
