An Introductory Message from the Student Body President

    May 22, 2014

    Dear Seattle University Community,

The Student Government of Seattle University (“SGSU”) has been in dialogue on the topic of adjunct and contingent faculty unionization since December, 2013. During this time we have spoken with students, faculty, staff, community members, and administrators who are passionate about Seattle University and the values our community upholds.

The statement linked below is the product of months of research and dialogue done independently and autonomously by SGSU––free of any manipulation and coercion by any party. This statement is by undergraduate students and for undergraduate students.

As the third party in the university’s system of shared-governance, the Student Government of Seattle University respectively enters this conversation as an independent and unanimous body.

    Sincerely,

    Eric Chalmers

    Student Body President
