Dr Shields received his BS/MS degree in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida in 2014.  His doctoral research was in low Reynolds number aerodynamics; specifically, this involved identifying and modeling novel aerodynamic instabilities of low aspect ratio wings and characterizing their impact on the unique stability regime of Micro Aerial Vehicles.  He teaches courses in Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics, as well as machining and engineering design.
