Community Outreach

Image of SU turor workingn with Bailey Gatzert Elementary studentStudents and faculty from the Mathematics Department engage in a number of community outreach programs, whose mission is to share the beauty and applicability of mathematics beyond our campus community.  The impact of these programs can be felt locally, through projects that engage with businesses and schools from communities near campus; across Seattle through enrichment programs for middle-school students; and globally, through partnerships with communities in rural Africa. You will find more details on the associated pages for the SUM Corps program for SU student tutors and the Kilowatts for Humanity program to bring electrical power to under-served communities in Africa. If you are interested in becoming part of one of these programs, please reach out to the contact for each. They would be delighted to hear from you!
