ECE Seminar: Careers in Power Engineering

Thursday, January 21st, 12:30-1:20pm

This will be a panel discussion with time for questions. Our panel guests will be:


  • Uzma Siddiqi is the Automation Engineering Supervisor at Seattle City Light, the electric utility serving Seattle and environs. Uzma initiated Seattle City Light's 100% clean microgrid at the city's Miller Community Center. Previously, she has worked in Technology Innovation, Transmission and Distribution Planning, Engineering Standards, and Customer Service. She has been in the electric power industry for many years and spent some years as a stay-at-home mom. Uzma received her BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University. She is currently working on a second Masters degree.


  • Allen Chan who works at GE Digital in the utility smart grid industry. His current role is the head of Americas Program Management Office. In this capacity, Allen is responsible for 1) Monitoring Portfolio metrics and driving actions in quarterly financial rhythms;  2) Improving project management best practices in partnership with the international team at GE, and; 3) Continuing to lead lean operational efforts for time to value, improve customer experience and revenue growth. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Seattle University and an MBA from University of Washington.


  • Daniel Nausner works at Rushing as the Electrical Project Engineer. He is in charge of the Electrical design of buildings and facilities. He is an electrical engineer and math enthusiast with a passion for making the world a better place. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering + Math from SeattleU.


Each professional will share information about their slice of the power industry, how they got into it, and give advice for students interested in power engineering.
