Teaching and Research Interests
Teaching: Her favorite courses are Animal Physiology (BIOL 3880), Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy (BIOL 3250), Biology III: Physiology and Development (BIOL 1630 and BIOL 1631), and Taking Flight: Avian Biology (UCOR 1800). Research Interests: Dr. Hartley and her research students are studying bushtits on the SU campus, specifically the birds' foraging sites, nesting sites, and vocalizations.
Dr. Hartley earned her B.S. in Biology at University of Washington and her Ph.D. in Zoology at Indiana University. She has been working at Seattle University since 1990. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, and bird-watching.
