In March 2016 two seniors in mechanical engineering, Elias Baker and Brian Wu, were part of a team that won a $1,000 “Judges Also Really Liked” prize at the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge, held at the University of Washington. Their invention, Tape-It-Easy, is “a tool that simplifies the installation of water efficient drip irrigation, removing barriers to adoption, and ultimately contributing to global water conservation.”
