COVID-19 Requirements

  • Member must bring their SU ID Card, wear face covering upon entry and must show proof of Safe Start Approval.
  • Members are required to bring and wear a face covering throughout the time of their participation. 3-layer masks are required. Single layer face covers such as neck gaiters or Buffs are not permitted. We will provide face coverings for those who need them.
  • Please consider limiting contact with those outside your household at least 1-2 weeks prior to your trip.

While we prefer to not cancel trips, weather and other considerations can make activities unsafe. We reserve the right to change or cancel any trips or events due to weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. Participants will be fully refunded in these cases.

No Show Policy

If you are unable to attend a trip that you have already registered for, you should notify the Trip Leaders as soon as possible. We allow each participant a max of 1 no-show without a penalty. If there are any further no-shows, a $10 fee will be charged.

Refund Policy

If the trip is canceled prior to departure, a 100% refund will be given. This may include but is not limited to: not making the minimum group size, travel and/or activity logistics, environmental conditions, staffing and other issues inherent to working in the outdoors.

No refunds will be granted within or after 72 hours of departure. A partial refund may be granted if a participant submits a request prior to 72 hours before the scheduled departure date, unless otherwise noted (as when working with third-parties for rental gear, tours, etc. that require advanced payment). No refunds will be granted based on participant satisfaction or incomplete excursions as trips may be altered as necessitated by the conditions presented at the time.

Participant Expectations

Alcohol & Drugs: There is a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of or being under the influence of alcohol, illegal and prescription drugs not taken for a current medical condition while participating in UREC events, activities, and classes. This is an unacceptable risk to one’s self and to others.

Backcountry: No backcountry skiing or boarding, at any time by any persons affiliated with this group, while participating on a University sponsored trip. Infractions will mean immediate dismissal from the activity, exclusion from all future Outdoor activities, and will be subject to the SU conduct process.

Behavior: Any participant may be asked by the Trip Lead(s) to adjust, alter, or discontinue any activity or behavior judged to be inappropriate, disruptive, or hazardous. Trip Leads have the right and the responsibility to regulate any individuals whom they consider a hazard to themselves or to others.

Nudity: Keep your clothes on because not everyone is comfortable those personal expressions.

Lost/Late Person: Persons over an hour late will initiate immediate Missing Person Search procedures. If late (know location but unable to meet) make contact with the Leader(s), get to the original rendezvous and stay there until contact is made. If lost (unknown location), make contact with the Leader(s), be in as a visible a location as possible in their close vicinity, and await rescue.

Expectations: violation of policy or law, intentional damage to equipment or environment, threat to self or others, and/or failure to abide by group expectations set by leaders, will result in various consequences that may include conduct sanctions, trip expulsion, and/or canceling the trip (at the individual’s expense).
