Travel Plans

When to Make Travel Plans

Beginning early May, registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis through the New Redhawk, Next Steps Canvas Course, but space is limited at each session so please do not make any travel plans until you have registered for a session and received the confirmation email.

Students stay on campus overnight in the residence halls. We encourage all students (even those commuting during the year) to stay overnight, as it's a great way to meet new friends.

Students will spend the night in Bellarmine Hall, and will have the option for an Early Arrival (arriving the night before Day 1 of Orientation) and/or a Late Departure (departing the day after the session ends).

Changing Your Orientation Reservation

You can log back into your Orientation Registration up until June 30th to update your reservation. This includes adding Early Arrivals/Late Departures, adding or removing a guest, and updating any information for either yourself or your guest(s). On or after July 1st, please contact our office ( to request any changes.

There are dozens of options in downtown Seattle for overnight lodging. All of our suggested hotels are within one mile of the university. Expect a 10 minute drive (~30-minute uphill walk or bus ride) from the hotels nearest the waterfront. Several offer discounts for SU friends and family, so be sure to check with the concierge before booking!

During Orientation, complimentary parking is available in our Broadway and Murphy Parking Garages.

Airport Transportation

Sea-Tac International Airport (SEA) serves the greater Seattle area. The airport is located about 15 miles south of SU. To get to SU, take a taxi/Uber/Lyft, a shared van ride with Shuttle Express (approximately $37) or Link Light Rail to the Capitol Hill Station ($2.50 fare) and walk along Broadway (10 minutes) to campus.
