clipart of a red redhawk birdAll new first-year students participate in Orientation to launch their educational careers at Seattle U. During our Summer Student Programming new students will have the chance to engage in virtual social events to connect with peers and attend various sessions to help with their transition to Seattle U.

In addition to our virtual programming, new students will be added to a series of online Orientation Canvas Modules. New students will learn important information about academics, financial aid, the many ways to get involved on campus, transitioning to college, and much more.

During Fall Welcome there will be many events for new students to connect with the Redhawk community and discover how to be successful at Seattle U. New students will build upon their summer experiences and get to participate in some of Seattle U's long-held traditions.

Check out the First Year Resources web page to find links to other helpful Seattle U web pages and a multitude of resources.

June 2022

June 14, 5:00 - 6:00 pm PDT | Redhawk Launch (REQUIRED)

  • This welcome is a tradition you won’t want to miss – you’ll have your first shared experience with your incoming class and meet President Eduardo Peñalver!  If you are not able to attend, this will be recorded and available to be viewed on our website. However, we hope to greet as many of you there as possible.

July 2022

Week of July 11-15 | Academic Advising Sessions by School/College (REQUIRED)

  • This is the week during which you and your fellow first-year students will attend an advising workshop with your academic advisor. You can check out the Advising 101 resource page to learn a bit more about academic advising at SU and prepare for your advising workshop!

Week of July 18-22 and July 25-29 | Registration Week (REQUIRED)

  • Course registration sessions are spread out over the last two weeks of July to allow for smaller groups and more individualized guidance from your academic advisor. You and a group of 20-25 peers will walk through the registration steps that lead to having a final schedule of classes for the fall quarter!
