Lavender Celebration

The Lavender Celebration is an annual commencement celebration to recognize the achievements of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and questioning students. We invite all graduating LGBTQIA+ students, friends, family and allies to join us!

Lavender Celebration Awards

The Sylvia Rivera Award for Queer Activism

This award recognizes a graduating undergraduate student who positively and consistently impacts the LGBTQIA+ community.  This student serves as a role model and inspires others to action, promotes a safe environment, and educates the Seattle University community on important LGBTQIA+ related issues.

The Cari Urabe Scholar-Advocate Award

This award recognizes a graduating graduate or law student who positively and consistently impacts the LGBTQIA+ community. Specifically, recognizing the work they do in advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community through institutional and policy change.

Award for Advancing Inclusion in Campus Life

This award recognizes one staff member or faculty member at Seattle University who has gone above and beyond the requirements of their position to advance an understanding of LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies by creating a more welcoming and affirming climate at Seattle University.

The Building Bridges Award for Cultivating Community 

This award recognizes the effort of a person or organization that takes an intersectional approach to LGBTQ+ inclusion on campus. They integrate diverse perspectives, promote solidarity, and embrace the multiplicity of ways LGBTQIA+ people exist at Seattle University.
