Food Security Initiatives operate within the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) and actively support the mission of OMA.
The Food Security Initiative provides support to those experiencing hunger and alleviate some stress as students search for more sustainable solutions to their financial circumstances. What we know is that college students at institutions across the United States are facing increasing financial pressure and difficulty in meeting their basic needs, and we have many students who are facing these challenges every day in our community. Our work is to radically humanize the student experience and make equitable these resources, allowing students to sustain themselves and to thrive at Seattle University.
We want to thank the Gender Justice Center for laying the groundwork to make the Food Security Initiative possible. It is due to their advocacy and determination that the food pantry and programming has been highlighted as a priority for the Seattle University community.
There are three essential components to the Food Security Initiative. The Food Pantry, Emergency Redhawk Dining Cards, and Educational Programming offered throughout the year.
