Susan Fleming earned her diploma of nursing at Los Angeles County School of Nursing, and her BSN from Washington State University Intercollegiate College of Nursing. In 2005, she received her MN from University of Washington, Seattle where she earned two certificates: Nurse Educator Certificate and Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist Certificate. She is a graduate of the PhD program at Washington State University College of Nursing. She currently teaches Obstetrics and Senior Synthesis for undergraduate nursing students at Seattle University. She advocates for individuals with disabilities working in healthcare fields and newborns who are born with birth defects. Her clinical practice extends many years primarily working in hospital nursing with mothers and newborns. Her research interest lies in studying technology and the American birth experience. Her goal is to improve nursing practice and health outcomes of mothers and their off springs for generations to come.
