    List of Gear to Bring

Students without the required gear won't be able to go on the Immersion.

    • Sleeping bag
    • Sleeping pad
    • Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes (think supportive and athletic footwear, not flip flops)
    • A lightweight waterproof jacket (and rain pants are also highly recommended)
    • Do NOT wear cotton. This includes sweatshirts and jeans. If it rains or if you perspire, cotton will hold moisture to your body and cool you off dramatically. Think FLEECE and NYLON. We recommend you wear some type of Cool Max, capilene, polypropylene or other synthetic material t-shirt or long underwear underneath your outer layers.
    • Day pack to carry your lunch and any warm gear that you may need while hiking
    • Water bottle
    • Wednesday dinner
    • Any medications for current medical conditions, especially for known allergies.

    Strongly Recommended

    • Clothes for 2 days, including hiking shorts and a pair of pants
    • Swimsuit, if you want to brave the cool lake waters
    • Small Towel and Flip flops
    • Personal items/Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) no showers for Thursday!
    • Flashlight
    • Sun protection: Sunglasses, Sunscreen, and Hat or Bandana
    • Insect repellent
    • Camera if you want photos
    • Your campus card for Friday night and to get back into your residence hall.

Please pack light; this is only a short trip and we have limited room in the van. Try to keep all your gear in one duffle bag. If you don't own any of these items, please email us and we will see if we can make arrangements to bring extra for you.
