Renee Rassilyer-Bomers, instructor in the College of Nursing, received a Nurse of the Year award from the March of Dimes Washington chapter. Rassilyer-Bomers was in the Advance Practice category at a celebration on Nov. 20. She was one of 19 nurses recognized out of the 200 who were nominated.
A double-graduate of SU having earned bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing-as well as a bachelor's in Humanities-Rassilyer-Bomers is now teaching and mentoring those students following in her footsteps.
She also works at Swedish Hospital Medical Center as a professional development specialist, where she helps nurses achieve higher levels of professional excellence and assists with recruitment and orientation activities.
